URGENT Incore Question!
These questions are for anyone with a Moveable Incore Detector System.
Surry is currently in a Refueling Outage and is looking for anyone who has
any experience or history with finding RCS water in their 10-path boxes.
During one of the last monthly flux maps before our outage, we briefly
received the leak detection alarm while scanning all 5 detectors into the
core. During troubleshooting this alarm was received again while inserting
just the 'D' detector into the same thimble as before. On subsequent maps
'D' detector has been getting stuck while scanning (and only a couple cases
while inserting). Manually the detector can be withdrawn and re-scanned,
but it would continue to get stuck in various, and eventually all of its
10-Path thimbles. 'C' detector also became stuck while in Emergency in a
couple of 'D' thimbles, as well as a couple of its own 10-Path thimbles.
We have discovered a small amount of water near the drain hole of the 'D'
10-path box, but cannot determine which thimble it originated from based on
visual inspection. 'D' detector has NOT had any trouble in Calibrate.
Does anyone have any experience or contacts that may be able to advise us
of possibilities associated with this issue? I believe that we have a
minor leak from a thimble on the 'D' drive, most likely the one that the
leak alarms came in on. Even if we identify the source of the leak, will
we be able to insert our 'D' and 'C' detectors to the top of the core in
the other thimbles that it got stuck in after the outage. Surry has no
experience with a leak, or finding water in 10-Path boxes. Thanks.
