Ginna Nuclear Power Plant Information
Who performs the 1/M during approach to crit? Operators or REs?
RE generally performs 1/M, but may be performed by Operator.
Are the RE's an integral member of the team or in an oversite role (review ECCs and 1/M's)?
REs are integral. We perform the ECCs and 1/M.
Who performs the ECC (ECP), RE or the STA or the SRO?
The Reactor Engineers perform the ECC and SROs reviews, but the procedure allows either to perform.
Who reviews the ECC, (ECP), RE or the STA or the SRO?
Generally, SRO reviews the ECC.
How many people HAVE to review the ECC?
One, an SRO has to review and approve the ECC itself.
Does Ops assign a reactivity management SRO to major reactivity changes (SU, maneuver up and down, 75% and back to 100%????
Yes, we recently started requiring a reactivity management SRO.
Are all Rx start ups IPTE's (Infrequently Performed Test or Evolutions)?
No. IPTE or SIPEs are normally only first time implementation issues, i.e, DRWM.
How many plants have pre-developed reactivity plans (ReMA's) in the control room for rapid downpowers?
REs do not pre-developed reactivity plans, but Operators do a weekly calculation for several combinations of power reduction and rate.
How often are they updated?
Weekly.
Are recurring work orders "flagged" electronically to alert the operators to evolutions that may impact reactivity management?
Yes
Does RE and Ops meet after RM evolutions for a post job critique?
Not typically. Normally any significant non-routine reactivity changes are discussed at Reactivity Management Committee.
If so, for all power maneuvers, only major ones (i.e. 0-100%)???
Normally any significant non-routine reactivity changes are discussed at Reactivity Management Committee.

Reactor Engineers
I have a major Integration effort coming up for Dominion in regard to reactivity management.
Some general questions on Common Standards that we all use. Please let me know what folks do for the following
Who performs the 1/M during approach to crit? Operators or REs? Are the RE's an integral member of the team or in an oversite role (review ECCs and 1/M's)? Who performs the ECC (ECP), RE or the STA or the SRO? Who reviews the ECC, (ECP), RE or the STA or the SRO? How many people HAVE to review the ECC? Thanks in advance for your help in this regard. I will gladly share all info with you once I compile it.
