Reactor Engineers
I have a major Integration effort
coming up for Dominion in regard to reactivity management.
Some general
questions on Common Standards that we all use. Please let me know what
folks do for the following
Who performs the 1/M during
approach to crit? Operators or REs - STAs
perform with RE overview.
Are the RE's an integral member of the team or in an oversite role (review ECCs and 1/M's)? REs are part of the Operations Dept. STAs receive similar training as the REs. A SRO, STA and one of the REs will perform independent ECCs. Comparison are made and the RE evaluates/resolves any differences. The RE, along with the Shift Manager, attempts to maintain an oversight role.
Who performs the ECC (ECP), RE or the STA or the
SRO? Usually all. RE compares and resolves
differences.
Who reviews the ECC, (ECP), RE or the STA or the
SRO? RE and Shift Manager/or Control Room
Supv
How many people HAVE to review the ECC? Reviewed by RE. Signed of in StartUp procedure by
SM/CRS.
Does Ops assign a reactivity management SRO to major
reactivity changes
(SU, maneuver up and down, 75% and back to
100%???? Yes for Planned Power Manuevers. No if not
available for Emergent Shutdowns.
Are all Rx start ups IPTE's (Infrequently Performed Test or
Evolutions)? No.
How many plants have pre-developed reactivity plans (ReMA's)
in the
control room for rapid downpowers? FCS has 21 plans. They are for 5%/hr, 15%/hr, 30%/hr and
downpowers to 90%, 80%, 70%, 50%, 30%, 12%, and S/D with 12 hours
of Stabalization built-in to combat Xenon.
How often are they updated? updated every 1,000 MWD/MTU (~ every month). The Automated
SIMULATE scripts require about 4 hours of work each month to update all the
plans.
Are recurring work orders "flagged" electronically to alert
the
operators to evolutions that may impact reactivity
management? All Work Orders have Impact
Statements which include a Reactivity Management section. The Impact
Statements are completed by Licensed Operators in the Work Control
Center.
Does RE and Ops meet after RM evolutions for a post job
critique? Not officially.
If so,
for all power maneuvers, only major ones (i.e. 0-100%)??? N/A
Thanks in advance for your help in this
regard. I will gladly share all info with you once I compile
it.
