Beaver Valley response

Beaver Valley Unit 1 has been injecting zinc since 2003. Injection target is currently 15 ppb in RCS and is started as soon as we startup (as long as silica is less than 1000 ppb and nickel is less than 6 ppb). Zinc addition is terminated 14 days prior to a planned shutdown to Mode 5. Unit 1 originally injected zinc at 30 ppb following Steam Generator replacement in order to passivate the new metal surfaces. The zinc levels were reduced a few cycles ago, and termination criteria of 14 days is also being reduced to 2 days.

Beaver Valley Unit 2 has been injecting zinc since 2010. Injection target is 5 ppb in RCS and is started as soon as we startup (as long as silica is less than 1000 ppb and nickel is less than 2 ppb). Zinc addition is terminated 2 days prior to a planned shutdown to Mode 5.

Injection for both units is through a skid and the Chemical and Volume Control System via suction header of the charging pumps.

If so could you provide some details as to flow path, amount injected, if constant or periodic injection and any other info you can share. Thanks
