Response for DCPP:

1.       Do you allow people in containment during the functional test?

No.  Contaiment access is restricted when MIDS detectors are run for functionals. It seems like we usually perform the functionals during Mode 2 or during power ascension before the first flux map.  Access is permitted for some maintenance activities.

2.       If so, what type of barrier do you put in place to prevent inadvertent radiation exposure?

If access is allowed for maintenance, all unaffected detectors are locked out under RP supervision and monitoring.  RP monitors affected detector prior ro allow work to proceed.

3.       Is there a minimum decay time since the last flux map before this would be allowed?

No minimum for maintenance but we like to see at least a month.

Subject: [Pwrrm] incore functional test

I’ve got a couple of questions related to the functional check of the incore system during outage.

1.        Do you allow people in containment during the functional test?

2.       If so, what type of barrier do you put in place to prevent inadvertent radiation exposure?

3.       Is there a minimum decay time since the last flux map before this would be allowed?

Thank you in advance for any info you can offer.
