Good afternoon –
From previous several previous benchmarking efforts I believe Calvert Cliffs is the only remaining site that performs measurement of the Power Coefficient.
We have an initiative to eliminate this test from the UFSAR and no longer perform measurement, but from an analysis standpoint it is tied directly to the fuel temperature / doppler coefficient as well as the MTC. Therefore measurement of the power coefficient serves to validate the FTC, which is a crucial input to most DBEs.
My question is: what rationale did you use to remove the power coefficient from your testing regime?
Note: We perform at the same time as the HFP BOC ITC measurement. We would continue to perform the ITC measurement, and simply drop the power swing portion. The test criteria of +/- 2 pcm/F would be removed from the UFSAR, effectively eliminating the test.
Thanks for your time,
William Buchanan
