My question to you is this: Does your plant have a formal (or even informal) time limit on how long a fuel assembly can be latched in containment, outside the reactor vessel, and unable to be placed in the upender before you would return the assembly to the reactor vessel and fully lowered (or another safe storage location if you have one)?

The "authorized location" is generally the spot whence it came. What "significant" means would be determined by the team on a case-by-case basis.

Beaver Valley does not have a formal time for such events. It is a judgement call made on a case by case basis.

Wolf Creek does not have a predetermined time limit. We would make that determination on a case by case basis depending on what was making the holdup.

For Surry, There is no time limit except for how long you want to have an operator stay with the assembly. We cannot leave the assembly un-attended. So it would be determined on a case by case basis by discussion with the fuel handling tem and the operations crew. We do have drop off locations, a designated location in the SFP and we can select an appropriate cavity location based on the situation, that we can use if the situation warrants.

We do not have a predetermined time (official or unofficial) that we would leave a F/A hanging on the Manipulator Crane. That decision would be made depending on the extent of any necessary repairs should we have equipment issues. If the Manipulator Crane itself was down (as happened at Surry a few years ago) the only way to get rid of an assembly would be manually.

We do not have a specific time limit stated in our refueling procedures. per procedure we can place assembly back to same location it came from, or place near on the baffle at least a kings move away from other fuel to ensure it is not "coupled" to rest of core.
