The CNP philosophy is operate with Rod Control in Automatic. We believe automatic operation provides the fastest response to an unanticipated transient. There are no plans to disable the automatic rod withdrawal feature.

At Surry Power Station, we had an event where our control rods automatically stepped out 2 steps due to an incorrect Tave-Tref deviation indication. There has been talk of disabling automatic rod withdrawal here at the station and I wanted to know what other plants have done regarding this system. Has your plant disabled the Automatic rod withdrawal function? If not, why not? Are there plans to do so?
