Frank, In response to your question, we post an RP supervisor with I&C folks at the seal table (which is located outside the bio wall) and we run the detectors through the system. We are in continuous radio communication between the Control Room and the Containment flux map seal table. Personnel working in the area are limited by the personnel physical barrier provided by the RP group. We generally run the detectors through all of the thimbles to ensure the automatic features are working properly and we have no restrictions with regard to access through the thimbles. Any problems can be addressed by I&C in field at the time. Obviously this work is performed prior to containment closure and heatup. An RP contact is Rick Brown at (305) 246-6017. Greetings from Byron, At the end of a refueling outage, we "check out" the Moveable Incore Detector System (MIDS) prior to it being needed for the first flux map. The checkout is essentially like a flux map, but no data is taken - we run the detectors through all the passes to Top of Core to ensure that each thimble is accessible and that no other problems exist (or if problems are found, that they are fixed before the system is needed for the flux map). Non-Refueling: first dilute the RCS to the estimated critical rod position, then withdraw shutdown banks, then withdraw control rods to critical. (Your second option) Refueling: establish a boron concentration to perform an ARO CEA drop time (scram time) test and withdraw rods using 1/M to do that test. We then withdraw back to the last group (4 rods) inserted to 75" (50%) and dilute to critical. ANO-1 (B&W) and ANO-2 (CE) dilutes/borates to boron concentration for S/D bank removal, pulls S/D banks, dilutes to ECP, then goes critical on rods. The reason I say "dilutes/borates" is depending on where you end up after the shutdown, you might have to continue to borate up to be able to meet requirements to pull S/D banks. Regards, Jaime H. Please provide your PWR fuel duty limitations (both sound and leaking fuel, increasing and decreasing power, etc.). No leaking Fuel/Start up after refueling: Ramp rate up and Power break points at which ramp rate changs. No leaking fuel Normal Operations: Ramp rate down. Ramp rate (and break points) return to RTP.
