Waterford is a CE-NSSS and we have defeated it for reactivity management concerns - it is turned off except for following a Reactor Power Cutback when an immediate operator action is to turn it on.
Reactor Power Cutback is dropping the lead group or two lead groups on a turbine trip or feedwater pump trip - allows us to remain at a reduced power. Last used in February 2004 for a turbine trip which allowed us to remain at >20% - we were critical that entire cycle although not quite a breaker-to-breaker in the normal sense.

How many of us with Westinghouse NSSS systems have defeated the Auto Rod withdrawal function (NOT Auto Insertion)???
For those that have defeated this function was it driven by reactivity management concerns or Power Uprate issues???
