The Beaver Valley Reactivity Management Committee has had the System Engineers present information on systems that have had the highest "impact" on the reactivity Performance Indicator. We have been asked to inquire within the industry how other plants may review or discuss plant systems that impact reactivity management. Please provide a response the the following questions: 1. Does your Reactivity Management Committee (or equivalent) routinely have the System Engineers of Reactivity Related Systems discuss system health or reactivity impact at committee meetings? 2. How often are these discussions? (i.e. after an event, periodically only if the system had several events, or periodically no matter what) 3. Do you have a templete for these discussions that would assist the system engineer in the preparation of the discussion or guide the discussion during the meeting? 4. What specific topics are discussed? (i.e Reactivity related CRs for system, system health, etc.) 5. For Seabrook, a standard agenda item is for a system engineer to present a system health report to the RMOB at our quarterly meetings. Systems are selected from the list of reactivity systems listed in our Reactivity Management procdure and usually have system health color of something less than green. If there is something in the presentation/health report that the RMOB wants more info on, an RMOB action item will be assigned to the system engineer for followup. No other Reactor Engineering procedures are considered Infrequently Performed Tests. Other outage activities that are always Infrequently Performed tests include: Reactor Head Lift, Upper Internals Lift, Rod Drops, and startup until the Main Feed Reg Valves are in service (approximately 25% power) 4) Is Reactor Engineering actively involved in reviewing daily work orders? How is this accomplished? ( REs look at a daily work order list, people bring work orders to REs,...etc. Response:Yes, we review reactivity related work orders. This is accomplished as part of the 12 week schedule is SAP. The work planners assign a review task to reactor engineer in the notification portion of the order during the planning phase. Usually Ops reviews the order first to see if RE review is needed. These orders are reviewed prior to T+6 (unless the order is emergent). If the order is emergent usually the planner or work week manager calls or emails RE to notify us that a review is needed.
